"Initiate Phase 2." And how better to start than with the man who throughout the 'Marvel Movie Festival "began Robert Downey Jr. like a Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist. Himself so? No, someone who is about as cool: Tony Stark. The Iron Man weapon opdoekte his company to The Big Lebowski chop in the pan and later New York rescued by flying a rocket into a black hole.

The latter feat Tony is also not sit in the cold clothes. He has nightmares about letting him wake up bathed in sweat and scared when the words "New York" or "aliens drop in his presence, then a panic attack almost inevitable. Tony is not so fearless cool as he once was ...

But despite his post-traumatic stress Iron Man still has steel balls and he can not resist the Chinese / Texan version of Osama Bin Laden, The Mandarin (in this film is far from a Chinese), to challenge an unfriendly affair. Because if you are 42 versions of a damn dangerous mech-suit have in your basement, you do not have to fear for America's most feared terrorist.

Um, unless the cellar cliff blown out is where your million apartment is built, of course. And that's where the story of Iron Man 3 will really start. The Mandarin destroy Tony's house, the Iron Man himself arrives kilometers away in a winter landscape with a faulty suit and has to rely on his own ability. What is Tony Stark worth without his fancy outfit or his super friends?

What strikes pretty quickly is that Iron Man 3 has a number of separate traits that you would not usually expect from a superhero summer blockbuster. What is the idea behind the Christmas spirit? Why are the henchmen / henchmen (which in other films are mostly interchangeable extras) such wisecracking, prominent guests? And where that extra dose of kids in the form of Harley guy (Ty Simpkins)?

Much of this we owe to writer / director Shane Black, who himself (at least for me) can call a modest Hollywood legend because he scripts of squatters as Lethal Weapon, The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Last Boy Scout written. 80s / 90s action blockbuster atmosphere with which he drenched those movies, feel and see you in Iron Man 3, thanks to its playfulness, humor, youthfulness and well, full of character. Plus of course generous use of The Holiday Season.

Shane Black has anyway a refreshing look at Iron Man without him forget what this franchise so popular: the enormous charisma of Tony Stark / Downey Jr .. The genial playboy gets this time mainly an extra dimension through its game with previously mentioned Harley youngster, whose barn he landed after his mansion by the sea is created equal. Stark actually treats the boy first as an adult he has not so much may, but need some hard, but rake jokes has returned. But later, of course, has been hard to prevent the inevitable cracks, how tiny too, and we see an age-border bromance bud. Although that is otherwise completed fairly quickly to make way for Big Action.

Like a good Marvel or superhero movie nowadays is fitting, it will take some time before the more explosive scenes erupting, because first the characters should be given enough time to develop and should, in this case, be sufficient motivation for the reasonable tormented Tony to take action. naturally without the Avengers, a shortcoming which is otherwise easily resolved with some simple reasoning "This time it's personal." Something that is never mentioned literally, although it ultimately comes down to that. But even without a green monster and thunder knows how to crack this one-man superhero movie enough, because all 'Marks' make so far in the final battle their appearance ...

Despite Black's focus puts on Tony Stark as non-iron man, he is not the only thing that shines in Iron Man 3. Besides Harley, which the top performance delivers to NOT be annoying when very young Hollywood boy, we see James Rhodes ( Don Cheadle), cool in the suit of Iron Patriot (formerly the War Machine who is now the US president's personal bodyguard steel) but also outside it as a sort of Colonel 007. Happy Hogan (director of Iron Man 1 and 2 Jon Favreau) is at the beginning of the film a great comic relief to finally do service as an emotional tool, and super terrorist the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) ... uh, who is not only a class but also a special case.

Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) deserves a special mention because she knows how to keep himself standing next to the spotlight draining Tony, while by the end of the film provides a complete breakout performance. Also Aldrich Killian (the always freaky good Guy Pearce) appears at the end of a fairly standard villain, but manages to emerge in a surprising way to a (physical) impressive character and actually the only one that adds little to the whole, Maya Hansen ( Rebecca Hall). Something that is otherwise due more to how her character was written than its performance.

An action-packed, humorous film chock full of character and atmosphere so. The only problem I like comic-geek with Iron Man 3 have is that the lake is a high-tech spy movie than a superhero movie. Of course, there is plenty of reference to A.I.M., there is the Extremis project and the addition of Iron Patriot is also a generous nod. But taken on the other hand, there are certain liberties with the Marvel universe - a little spot with even driven - that can shoot some geeks in the wrong way. But at least I do ... The biggest flaw is undoubtedly the fact that, already famous, Marvel post-credits sequence will lead to little time geekasms. Let me put it this way: I became none the wiser about Avengers 2, nobody saw "Guarding the Galaxy" and have no T'Challa Udaku, Stephen Strange or Hank Pym see coming along. * Sob *
A bit skimpy in fan service, but Iron Man 3 offers plenty of Tony Stark for money. A fresh summer blockbuster full of wisecracking humor, ingenious action, top actors who entertain themselves visible and ... um, Christmas trees.
